Apparel Design
As an aspiring designer I have developed garments and aesthetics to suit my personal brand. I lean towards nontraditionally feminine designs and retro girly silhouettes. This is reflected in the gallery below, with some of the designs I worked on for my design program classes. If You want to know about my Costume design focus, I have a separate page dedicated to excerpts and photos of my costume aesthetic and how it is developing.
I started learning how to sew at age 12, learning from my grandmother on the same machine she made her wedding dress on. This was the moment I fell in love with sewing and creation, from there I started making clothes for my dolls, altering my own clothes, and looking into fashion as a job.
I had given up on it for a little while, but after being accepted at Auburn, I fell in love with their apparel design course. From there I've only blossomed in creativity and my ability. From making patterns from scratch, to illustration and CAD skills, I continue to develop and learn.
Design Philosophy
As a designer, my goal is genuine and honest designs and practices. I use recycled fabrics, avoid over waste, and aim to always keep moving towards good practice. My clothes are designed to make people feel beautiful and confident in their style and choices. I do this by learning about my consumer, their needs, and what materials I use, ensuring everything is in line with my beliefs and the beliefs of my target consumers.
Focus
I want to focus mainly on costume design, pattern design, and production in a theatre. The theatre has always been an interest of mine, and I love just how intrinsic clothes are to a character. Currently I am searching for an internship in a costume shop to gain experience in the backstage world of theatre to add to my experience in design.
